A huge fire erupted at a plastic processing factory on Monday morning at Business Park in Drenas, 28 kilometers west of Prishtina, causing heavy material and environmental damage.
“At around 11:00 AM we received information about a fire incident at a factory in the village of ‘Korroticë e Epërme/Gornja Koretica’ in Drenas/Glogovac. Firefighters and Police are at the scene dealing with the case,” stated the spokesperson for the Prishtina region police, Florije Ahmeti.

The Mayor of the municipality of Drenas/Glogovac, Ramiz Lladovci, referred to the incident as a material and ecological catastrophe, adding that strong winds have contributed to the spread of the fire.
“I have called for help from colleagues at the local and central levels to extinguish the fire,” wrote Lladrovci on Facebook social media.
Media outlets have been asked to relocate from the incident site for safety reasons.
Business Park covers an area of 24 hectares and is located on the Prishtina – Peja/Pec highway. The property is considered the largest of its kind in the country.
Thirty two businesses operate within Business Park, including some with foreign capital, and hundreds of individuals work at the site.
