Germany Arrests Kosovo-Born Men for Alleged Attack Plot

Police in Germany said they arrested two Kosovo-born brothers over an alleged plot to attack a huge shopping mall in the town of Oberhausen, Balkan Insight reports.

German police special forces arrested two Kosovo-born men in the city of Duisberg on suspicion of planning to attack the Centro shopping mall in Oberhausen in the west of Germany, police said in a statement on Friday.

The brothers, aged 28 and 31, were born in Kosovo, according to Reuters news agency.

The police statement did not say whether more people were involved in the planning of the attack at the mall, which is one of the biggest in Germany.

The arrest came after 12 people were killed in an attack on Monday on a Christmas market in Berlin. Italian interior minister Marco Minniti announced on Friday morning that the chief suspect in the Berlin case had been shot dead by police in Milan.

There have been no suggestions that the two Kosovo men under arrest are connected to the Berlin attack.
