Tasty, affordable and right in the heart of the city, Mexican American inspired fast food spot Mucho offers classic tacos, burritos and bowls perfect for a quick takeaway lunch in Prishtina.

Eating out as the pandemic continues into its fourth month can be a daunting experience, and if you’re looking for a safe option to grab something and go, new fast food spot Mucho could be what you’re looking for.

Opening its doors just last week, Mucho’s location near the Newborn monument on Luan Haradinaj street, opposite the Kosovo Police headquarters, makes it an easy and accessible option for a quick lunch or dinner.

Its Mexican flag-inspired red, green and white tiled interior, featuring cartoonish murals of the restaurant’s poncho-wearing mascot ‘Lady Mucho’ and dancing anthropomorphic food and drinks, is paired with hanging plants along the walls, stylish lighting and long, spacious tables with leather seating and bar stools, creating a nice blend of tasteful and gimmicky design that is archetypal of Mexican-style fast food chains.

The menu offers chicken, steak, pulled beef or minced meat in either hard or soft shell tacos, burritos or ‘Mucho bowls,’ which offer any fillings in a recyclable container rather than tortilla. Servers will build your meal to order in front of you, offering fajita-style fried vegetables, white or brown rice cooked with cilantro and red or white beans as filling choices.

You can then add fresh lettuce, cheese, sour cream, sweet or spicy salsa, pico de gallo, Mexican-style corn salad and guacamole (which is one euro extra) to your meal. For vegetarians, there is no specially-made option, but guacamole is free of charge, and the fajita vegetables make for a tasty filling on their own. The meal will cost you between 3.7 and 5.5 euros, depending on your choice of filling and extras.

Mucho also offers fresh homemade lemonade to complement your meal on top of the usual variety of soft drinks. For extras, you can order homemade tortillas with a range of salsas and guacamole for less than three euros, as well as small bowls of gazpacho, a fresh and cold tomato soup, for only 1.5 euros.

After 16:00, Mucho opens their cocktail menu: enjoy sangria, caipirinhas, margaritas or a tequila sunrise for three euros, as well as beer or tequila-flavoured lager Desperados.

The food is simple, the vegetables fresh and the meat well-seasoned. While it is not the most adventurous menu offering Mexican-style food available in Prishtina, its great flavours, location and reasonable prices make Mucho one of the best fast food options in the centre of town.

The restaurant has been keen to show their support for respecting social distancing and wearing protective equipment, even ensuring that their cartoon mascot has donned her own mask. If you prefer to avoid restaurants completely during the pandemic, Mucho’s menu is also available for delivery, costing one euro with a minimum spend of 10 euros.
