Mulli Buke & Kafe is perfect for slow weekend mornings with friends, catching up over a cup of coffee amidst the fragrant smell of freshly baked croissants.

If you follow Enver Maloku street to its very end, you will find Mulli Buke & Kafe, tucked away quite inconspicuously on the ground floor of one of the towering apartment buildings in the Mati neighborhood of Prishtina.

Though it has been around since February this year, like many new businesses its opening has been dampened by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic – unfortunately so, because this new bakery offers an unparalleled choice of croissants.

At first glance, Mulli Buke & Kafe’s clean interior appears modest with its minimally furnished white interior and wooden elements, echoing a traditional bakery.

However, watching the staff dart through the open kitchen to stack the countertop display case with seven different varieties of croissants, pain au chocolats, and swirled cinnamon buns is an undoubtedly enamouring sight. Mulli Buke & Kafe has also a tiny terrace facing the neighborhood, if you prefer to enjoy your sweet treat outdoors.

Prishtina Insight tasted a range of almond, pistachio, and classic buttery croissants – each resulting in a pleasurable mess of crumbs scattered all over the table.

The croissants’ crunchy tops, buttery layers, and delightful filings, for 1.5 euro, are an indulgent treat that wards off gloomy moods during this time of the year. Meanwhile, the soft pain au chocolat offers a tasty alternative with a perfect chocolate-to-pastry ratio which needs to be savoured with every bite.

If the pastries leave you craving more, then pick up an extra-large cinnamon roll, with its yeast-leavened dough swirled around an oozy brown sugar and cinnamon filling. The roll itself had a great fluffy texture but could maybe do with a light lemon frosting to spice up the flavor.

Besides pastries, Mulli Buke & Kafe has a range of bread, including sourdough, shokupan, baguette, ciabatta, and bagels ranging between 0.50 and 1.20 euros. With its slightly burned crust, their sourdough loaf has a full rye flavor and moist interior that will satisfy even sourdough connoisseurs.

Mulli Buke & Kafe is open every day from 7:00 until 19:00, while free delivery is also available on weekends between 6:00 and 8:30. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
