Rakip Abdyli, a Peja resident who was arrested in mid April this year and charged with inciting violent extremism through social media, was found guilty by the Court in Peja after a speedy trial.

According to the indictment, Abdyli was accused of being a supporter of ISIS and calling for violent jihad in Kosovo through terrorist attacks. Less than three months later, Abdyli expressed remorse in the Peja Court, maintaining that he did not know the consequences of his actions.

According to the court’s decision, Abdyli will also pay 100 euros of the court’s expenses.

During a session held a few hours before the court declared its decision, Abdyli admitted his guilt.

“Yes, I admit to the act, but I did not do it on purpose. I understood that it is against the law when I was arrested, and I regret the act,” the defendant said.

In April, Kosovo police arrested Avdyli for calling for attacks against the Kosovo government and foreign embassies. Through his Youtube page, ‘Nasheed’ Abdyli  posted videos in which he warned of the coming of ‘the Caliphate,’ a byname for the ISIS-run state in northern Syria and Iraq, to Kosovo.
