The 11th edition of DAM Festival, an international music festival of young and emerging artists held annually in Prishtina, starts tonight with a performance by the Kosovo Flute Choir.
The festival bringing together around 100 musicians performing in classical and experimental music and performance will open tonight in Prishtina.
The festival was founded in 2005 by a group of students from the University of Prishtina Faculty of Music.
The festival starts tonight at 7:30 pm and will last for six days. A total of 20 concerts performed by around 100 musicians will be held.
The festival will open with a performance titled Stitching Needs by Lola Sylaj and Dardan Zhegrova, and will continue with the Kosovo Flute Choir, which will be led by Belgrade flutist Ljubisa Jovanovic.
In a press conference on September 19, the performers shared their excitement for the opening of the festival.
“I am very happy that with tomorrow’s concert we will create a cultural brand, and I especially invite composers to come and listen to the concert and begin writing for the Kosovo Flute Choir, because this will be our next step,” said the conductor Jovanovic on Monday.
The highlight of the evening will be the trio Triisimo, which is composed of Olga Zado, pianist, Robert Kowalski, violinist, and Boris Nedialkov, cello player.
Kowalski, who is visiting Kosovo for the first time, expressed his gratitude.
“I would like to thank everyone for their support, and I believe that all will go well,” he said.
All concerts are free of charge and will be held at the Red Hall, in the Youth Palace (aka Boro and Ramiz) in downtown Prishtina.
