Kosovo have been drawn alongside Spain, Sweden, Greece, and Georgia, in Group B of the European qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The draw for the European qualification groups for the 2022 World Cup was held at FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich on Monday, with Kosovo drawn into Group B, alongside Spain, Sweden, Greece and Georgia.
All matches in the group will be played in 2021, with three games scheduled for March and September and two apiece in October and November.
Only the group winners will qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup automatically, with the second placed teams entering a 12-team second round of qualifying from which three teams will proceed to the world cup finals.
Kosovo will face Spain, Sweden and Georgia for the first time in competitive fixtures, and renew hostilities with Greece, who they met in this year’s UEFA Nations League, losing 1-2 in Prishtina and earning a 0-0 draw in Athens.
Kosovo will be hoping to improve on the sixth place finish and solitary point earned in Group I during their first world cup qualifying competition played across 2016 and 2017.
