With their absurd threats to establish ‘a little union’ between Kosovo and Albania, Edi Rama and Hashim Thaci only reveal their hopeless scare tactics.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci backed away from his calls to establish a regular army for Kosovo by amending the current Law on the Kosovo Security Force.
The proposed army is part of a strategy to limit domestic dissent and cement the position of the elites who have allowed Kosovo to stagnate – if not degenerate – since 2008.
The worries of Hashim Thaci and his subordinates are not Kosovo's worries. Prishtina needs to coordinate with NATO, the US, and the EU regarding the establishment of Kosovo's army.
One year into his presidency, Hashim Thaci has not managed to bridge the gap between government and opposition, but has worked hard to build the image of a peace-broker.
