The League of Prizren Complex as shown through Kallxo’s 360-degree video technology.
The monumental complex of the Albanian League of Prizren is located in the city’s historic center. Built around the same time as the Gazi Mehmed Pasha Mosque, whose construction dates back to the 16th century, both buildings served as shelters for the largest Albanian political organization, the Albanian League of Prizren, throughout the 19th century.
On 10 June 1878, delegates from areas largely populated by Albanians met at the Assembly of the League of Prizren, where the political party established mechanisms for governance and defense whose aim was to protect the Albanian nation.
In the League of Prizren Museum, located at the Complex, relics from these historical meetings have been preserved and are on display, including documents, old weapons, and portraits of national figures from the time.
The ethnographic history area of the museum, located in the Madrasa building, showcases the characteristic outfits from the different areas where Albanians lived around this time.
The art gallery, with paintings dedicated to the memorable personalities of the Albanian League of Prizren, is located on the top floor of the Madrasa.
By the end of the 19th century and into the beginning of the 20th century, the complex of the Albanian League of Prizren saw a period of renovations and rebuilding, and particularly Baroque influences can be clearly seen added to its facade and interior.
During the Kosovo War in 1999, the League building was burned down by the Serbian military and guerrilla forces, and in June 2000, the complex was completely rebuilt.
