Kallxo.com journalists, Adelina Ahmeti and Egzon Dahsyla, were awarded by the Association of Journalists of Kosovo for their investigations into women’s empowerment and worker's rights.
At its annual journalism awards on December 10, the Association of Journalists of Kosovo, AJK, awarded Kallxo.com journalists for their Investigations exposing institutional negligence in domestic violence cases and dangerous construction practices.
Adelina Ahmeti received the award for Best Reporting on Women’s Empowerment for her investigation, “Judge and Prosecutor Caught Discussing With Domestic Violence Suspect How to Silence the Victim.”
The investigation was based on an audio recording obtained by Kallxo.com and published on September 5. The recording captured Judge Naime Krasniqi-Jashanica and former Prosecutor Edina Jupolli speaking with domestic violence defendant Arton Tullari, discussing ways to prevent the victim from speaking in the trial.
Rather than guaranteeing the victim’s rights, the judge and prosecutor were heard sympathising with the defendant and planning to stop the victim from testifying.
Following the publication, the Kosovo Judicial Council suspended Judge Krasniqi-Jashanica. Prosecutor Jupolli had retired earlier, in July 2025.

“I call on all institutions—security, justice, judiciary, prosecution—to treat these cases with dignity and integrity,” said Ahmeti upon receiving the award. “Violence against women is not just a phrase. It is extremely difficult in Kosovo to convince women to speak against former partners, and we have seen too many cases where institutional negligence has cost women their lives,” she added.
Egzon Dahsyla received the award for Best Reporting on Workers’ Rights for his investigation, “Dangerous Construction Practices.”
His reporting followed serious incidents in construction worksites in Prishtina in early April 2025, where, due to soil slippage, a 40-year-old worker died in the Veternik neighbourhood and another was injured. Similarly, there was soil slippage in the Velania neighbourhood as well.
Kallxo.com visited both sites and further findings revealed a widespread practice of skipping crucial early-stage safety measures in order to avoid spending hundreds of thousands of euros.
“We wanted to show how institutional negligence contributed to a worker’s death,” Dahsyla said during the ceremony. “The prosecution is investigating the case, and I hope those responsible will face justice,” he stated.
