Safete Tolaj resigned from her position as overseeing judge in Decan following an indictment raised after an investigation by Drejtesia ne Kosove into bribery-related allegations.
On Thursday, the Kosovo Judicial Council approved the resignation of Judge Safete Tolaj, who was indicted in October on charges of abuse of office, tampering with evidence, and forging official documents.
The indictment was raised 10 months after BIRN television program Drejtesia in Kosove released video footage of Tolaj’s son, Fisnik, accepting a bribe in exchange for influencing judicial proceedings.
According to the indictment of the Basic Court of Peja, Safete Tolaj–who had initially, on January 2, sentenced a suspect with detention–had allegedly abused her office with the intention of financial profit when she changed the sentence to bail.
The case is ongoing.
