Azem Syla, the alleged leader of a criminal group, surrendered to Kosovo police at the Kosovo Albania border on Friday.
Former Kosovo Liberation Army commander and Kosovo member of parliament, Azem Syla surrendered to the police at the Vermica border point, three days after EULEX police raided his home in Drenas. Syla’s arrest is part of an ongoing Special Prosecution Office criminal investigation. On Wednesday, Kosovo Police and EULEX arrested six people and searched more than 40 locations.
Syla, accused of leading an organized crime group that dealt with appropriation of socially owned property worth an estimated worth of 30 million euro, was brought to Prishtina after having surrendered.
He is expected to appear in front of a judge this Friday afternoon.
