On first glance, Metropol looks like the kind to place that’d be good for a drink on Mother Teresa Boulevard, but not much else. It exudes the kind of hollow classiness that you’d expect to yield overdone beef stroganoff. But the truth is Restaurant Metropol knows how to do food. Metrol has a deep menu going from breakfast to big steaks. It has a vaguely Italian influence, with a little bit of everything. During a recent visit, the tomato, fresh mozzarella and basil sandwich was delivered as promised – on homemade bread – with a side of creamy American-style cole slaw and potato salad. A breakfast we had also a pleasant surprise: the omelet done just right, with properly grilled vegetables, a salad – along with homemade bread and zesty dips. A glass of fresh orange juice rounded it out.
