Two Kosovo Serbs were found dead on Monday evening in the village of Babimost in what the prosecution suspects was a ‘violent and suspicious’ case.
The bodies of the two victims, one male, the other female, were discovered at a house in the village of Babimost in the Municipality of Obiliq, located in the outskirts of Kosovo’s capital.
“The medical team at the crime scene confirmed the deaths of the two victims, while an investigation into the case is ongoing,” said police spokesperson Baki Kelani on Monday night.
On Tuesday, the Kosovo Police continued the investigation at the crime scene, but have been reluctant to divulge information about the cause of death or potential suspects.
On Tuesday morning, the Kosovo Prime Minister’s Office also reacted to the news, calling for all relevant institutions to investigate the deaths promptly.
“The government calls on rule-of-law institutions to solve these cases as soon as possible,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a press release. “The government calls on citizens who might have information to come forward and cooperate with the rule-of-law institutions.”
Meanwhile, the State Prosecutor on the case, Ibrahim Berisha, said the deaths were “violent” and were under “intensive investigation.” The prosecutor also added that he was not able to discuss the details about the deaths, because reports were not yet finalized.
“We do not know the details yet, we need to confirm and complete all reports. We are dealing with a violent and suspicious death. Investigations have begun. We are intensively investigating the case,” Berisha confirmed.
