Absent players leave Kosovo struggling in Nations League

The Kosovo men’s team made a difficult return to international football, losing to Greece and drawing with Moldova in the UEFA Nations League, with the coronavirus crisis preventing many players from travelling.

UEFA have awarded FC Prishtina’s tie with Lincoln Red Imps 3-0 to the Gibraltan team after the match was twice abandoned due to players from the Kosovo club testing positive for coronavirus.

Serb footballer’s mother fired after Kosovo call-up

The mother of teenage footballer Ilija Ivic was fired from her job at a Serb-run cultural education centre after her son became the first Kosovo Serb to accept a call-up to play for the Kosovo Under-19 team.

While off the pitch issues remain, the Kosovo football team’s first ever attempt to qualify for a European Championship has brought joy to Kosovars across the continent this year, and there is more still to come in the future.
