Two of the Vetevendosje MPs charged with setting off tear gas in the Kosovo Assembly were released from detention on house arrest, while the third walked free.
The Appeals Court in Prishtina issued a decision to release three Vetevendosje MPs, Albin Kurti, Albulena Haxhiu and Donika Kadaj-Bujupi, from detention on Saturday.
The three MPs, charged with setting off tear gas in the Kosovo Assembly, were arrested yesterday by Kosovo Police after failing to appear in court.
The decision on their release was taken after the defense submitted a complaint to the Appeals Court in Prishtina.
Two of the MPs, Kurti and Kadaj-Bujupi, were issued a house arrest measure; meanwhile, Haxhiu walked free. The news was confirmed by the court’s spokesperson Arber Jashari.
The three MPs were arrested on Friday in front of the Kosovo Assembly, after a skirmish between Kosovo Police and Vetevendosje MPs who were trying to obstruct Kurti’s arrest.
One of Vetevendosje MPs, Driton Caushi, claims to have been bitten by a police officer in the process.
The MPs are expected to appear in court on December 1.
