The Kosovo Judicial Council has suspended Judge Safete Tolaj from her position as overseeing judge in Decan after Justice in Kosovo revealed bribery allegations.
Overseeing Judge Safete Tolaj was suspended from her position as head of the Decan court, confirmed Nehat Idrizi, head of the Kosovo Judicial Council, KJC.
KJC’s decision came after Justice in Kosovo broadcasted a two part program, in which Tolaj’s son can be seen asking for and receiving a bribe from a citizen in exchange for speeding up a case presided by Judge Tolaj in the Decan Court. The KJC commission is still to decide on Tolaj’s position as a judge.
One day after the preview ad for the program came out last week, the police and the prosecution arrested Safete and Fisnik Tolaj and issued them with 30 days of house arrest and detention, respectively.
