Kosovo will face Greece, Slovenia and Moldova in Group C3 of the 2020 UEFA Nations League, set to be played between September and November this year.
Kosovo were placed in Group C3 of the 2020 UEFA Nations League alongside Greece, Slovenia, and Moldova at a draw made in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Tuesday evening. It is the first time Kosovo will meet any of their prospective opponents.
Matches are set to be played between September and November 2020, with the first matchday between September 3-5.
Kosovo avoided meeting neighbours Albania, who will face Lithuania, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Earlier on Tuesday, Kosovo defender Amir Rrahmani told Koha Ditore that he hoped Kosovo would avoid Albania in the draw, a sentiment echoed by Kosovo-born Albania goalkeeper Etrit Berissha.
Kosovo will compete in League C in this year’s edition of the competition, having won their group in League D in 2018, winning four games and drawing two, part of an unbeaten run that stretched to 15 games over a more than 18 month period.
Winning the group also entered Kosovo into a play off to qualify for Euro 2020 which will take place at the end of this month, with the semi final against North Macedonia scheduled for March 26 in Skopje.
A first place finish in Group C3 in this year’s competition, would see Kosovo compete in League B in the 2022 Nations league, while a fourth place finish would result in entry into a play off in March 2021 to decide which two teams will be relegated to League D.
